Photography and Visual Communication Design majors prepare students for successful careers as professionals in the discipline, practice, and culture of photography and design.
Our BDes graduates have established a reputation for excellence in the newest design fields. Alumni from Photography and Visual Communication Design work in a broad range of exciting careers in the entertainment, advertising, new media, publication, editorial, corporate, television, film, fashion, gaming and environmental design industries.
Structure
Visual Communication
The School of Communications Design (SCD) offers a NASAD-accredited, professionally-oriented, studio-based Bachelor of Design degree program. SCD students have a choice of two streams: Advertising and Graphic Design, and Character Design and Illustration.
Photography
With award-winning faculty, creative curriculum, and ample studio space and equipment, students in AUArts’ Bachelor of Design in Photography program enjoy a stimulating and supportive learning environment.

Admissions
- International applicants are evaluated on the basis of equivalency of an Alberta high school diploma and a minimum of 60% in the final year of study. All final transcripts must be forwarded directly from applicants’ educational institution to AUArts Admissions Office by August 1. All transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by notarized English translations.
