About this course
The Bachelor of Science (Extended) (Health) is a four-year degree for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to undertake studies in an academically and culturally supported environment.
All successful applicants to this degree will be eligible for a $20,000 scholarship.
Who is it for?
This course will suit prospective students seeking an opportunity to explore the breadth of health and tailor their study pattern to specialise in their particular interests, as well as knowledge of culture and practice.
Structure
What you’ll study
You will complete a major in Health with core units in areas such as health and society, introduction to healthcare and eHealth, ensuring you gain comprehensive knowledge of healthcare and its latest developments.
As you progress through the health major, you will be able to specialise in areas of interest (e.g. health, ethics and the law, international health or health policy).
A second major can be taken from the shared pool of majors or from those offered in the Bachelor of Science, which are offered through the Faculty of Science academic schools.
Coursework will consist of project and group-based learning with other students and health organisations.

This course is an alternative entry program.
- This course is only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, who meet the process outlined in the Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015.
- Admission to this course will be on demonstrated potential for tertiary study to a standard sufficient to undertake the course as demonstrated in:
- a numeracy and literacy diagnostic assessment;
- a structured interview;
- evidence of a secondary school leaving qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents) or Record of Student Achievement (RoSA), tertiary study or an approved preparation program;
- a portfolio of written work or support material including a personal statement of intent for studying the course.
A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
A minimum result of 61 overall and a minimum result of 54 in each band
